Is my cholesterol linked to chest pain/angina?

I am 17 years old, 5'0 and 135 lbs. I am a little overweight and my LDL cholesterol level is at 130.4. The doctor's office told me that normal is between 63 and 130. The past few days, typically after I eat lunch, my chest tightens up, my heart seems to beat faster, and my face feels red and flush and breathing becomes more difficult. I wouldn't think my cholesterol is high enough to cause chest pain, but what do you think? I also have a very high family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, and hypertension.
Answer:
Better see a cardiologist, keeping your history in view. The earlier the better.
the two could be linked. you should tell your doctor about this immediately so that they can put you on medication or something. are you eating healthy?
Well there are always chances of it being link to high cholesterol, but its always good to add fruits to your diet now.. Eat like apple, blue berries and orange...
You should be talking to your DR. not asking questions here.
Not not at this time with what you said! But because you are having family history of heart disease you may in future be a victim of heart disease. At this point of time it seems that most of your described symptoms are related to intake of food and after taking the food so it has some relation to your digestive tract !There may be a gaseous problem and may be costo chondritis that is swelling in the coastal cartilage and may be indigestion !You should eat very slowly and with perfect mastication and SHOULD AVOID NON VEGITARIAN COMPLETELY ! Animals are not for mans eating !For healthy and happy living be 100% vegitarian.,Take medicine like albendazole for worms in the abdomen.Alwaays YouRsmE
In this case, I think your mildly elevated cholesterol and your chest pain are unlikely to be related. The combination of time (years and years) as well as other risk factors - diabetes, smoking, elevated cholesterol, family predisposition, and high blood pressure all combine to make heart disease worse. Now despite your chest pain being unlikely to be from coronary disease - it still is not normal and still lacks a diagnoisis. I would discuss this with my primary doctor. He/she may want to do some additional testing, but it still does not sound likely to be cardiac in nature. Finally, given your youth and regardless of what this turns out to be there is no time like the present to adopt some healthy life habits - good wholesome eating and regular exercise go a good long way to contributing to your health. You'd be amazed at the number of people who say they can't do exercise now because they are too deconditioned.
Good luck.
you have given some information but it is not enough to form an opinion. your ldl cholesterol is indeed quite high for your age but other factors such as level of good cholesterol (HDL), triglyceride etc also are important. the problems you face may not have anything to do with heart at all. you must see a physician , get a good exam and simple tests including cardiac rhythm test (EKG, Holter ) done. Read about Framingham cardiac risk score by googling it. Don't get scared. just get tested and don't simply blame your weight for this and start losing weight without getting checked out. i'm sorry to sound preachy. i have a 17 year old son. God bless.
